BankAtlantic Names Doug Freeman Executive Vice President, Chief Corporate Banking Executive

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – August 8, 2007 -- BankAtlantic, “Florida’s Most Convenient Bank,” announced today that Doug Freeman has joined the company as Executive Vice President, Chief Corporate Banking Executive. Freeman will be responsible for overseeing several business divisions of the bank including: Business Banking, Commercial Lending, Treasury Management, Commercial Real Estate Lending, as well as several other sales areas. BankAtlantic is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BankAtlantic Bancorp (NYSE: BBX).

 

Prior to joining BankAtlantic, Freeman served as Chairman and CEO of NetBank. Previously, he was a member of the Executive Committee and President of the Consumer Finance Division of Nations Bank (subsequently Bank of America). In addition, he was a member of Barnett Bank’s Senior Management Committee from 1991-1998 serving as Chief Corporate Bank Executive and Chief Consumer Bank Executive. Freeman was recruited to Barnett from Wells Fargo, where he was an Executive in charge of Business Banking.

Freeman is Chairman of the BAI (Bank Administration Institute), a prior Board member of the Consumers Bankers Association, on the Board of Trustees of the Graduate School of Retail Banking, a Board member of Furman University in South Carolina and also a Trustee of the Moore Business School at the University of South Carolina
