BankAtlantic Partners with CBS4’s Neighbors 4 Neighbors and South Florida Public Library to Teach Kids that Kindness is Contagious
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – June 22, 2010 – BankAtlantic®, Florida’s Most Convenient BankSM announced today that it is partnering with CBS4’s Neighbors 4 Neighbors and the Broward County and Miami-Dade Public Library systems to help spread the word this summer that kindness is contagious. Between June 18 and August 7, 2010, South Florida kids, ages five to eighteen years old, will have an opportunity to tap into their creative side and illustrate an act of kindness.
Children are encouraged to stop by a BankAtlantic branch or their local library to pick up an entry card where they can draw a picture to be considered for one of six designs that will be used on kindness cards and given to individuals throughout the community as acknowledgement for displaying a random act of kindness.
“It’s important for children of any age to understand the importance of doing good deeds for others and giving back to the community. The kindness card campaign is a great learning tool wrapped in a fun summer art activity,” said Marcia Barry-Smith, Senior Vice President of BankAtlantic’s CRA Lending division and Executive Director of BankAtlantic Foundation.
Submissions will be divided into the following categories each for Miami Dade and Broward counties - ages five to 12 years old; 13 to 18 years old; and best of show. A panel of judges will select the top 20 illustrations from each county and put online at CBS4.com in anticipation for final judging. Each of the six finalists will receive a BankAtlantic basic savings account with $100 to start. (Winner must meet account qualifications. Prize is not redeemable for cash.) The final six selections will be printed, laminated and distributed through Neighbors 4 Neighbors’ community partners, schools, and community organizations.
