‘BankAtlantic Three House Challenge’ Homes to be Part of Habitat for Humanity of Broward County Dania Home Dedication Ceremony
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – April 29, 2010 -- BankAtlantic, “Florida’s Most Convenient Bank,” today announced that the three homes from last year’s ‘BankAtlantic Three House Challenge’ will be part of the 18-home Habitat for Humanity of Broward County home dedication ceremony in Dania. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May1st at 10:00 a.m. As a sponsor, BankAtlantic will participate in presenting the ceremonial keys to the new homeowners.
Last spring, BankAtlantic pledged up to $105,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Broward County and challenged the community, local businesses and corporate leaders to match their pledged donation of up to $105,000. The challenge was made on behalf of BankAtlantic’s employees by BankAtlantic Bancorp’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alan B. Levan, at the 25th Anniversary Spirit of Humanity Awards held on March 19, 2009. The typical cost in building three new Habitat homes is approximately $210,000. The donation made by BankAtlantic’s employees covered approximately half the cost of building three new houses; Habitat worked with other donors for the remaining funds. In addition to donating funds, BankAtlantic employees also participated in Habitat Build Days and helped in the building of these three houses.

Since 1992, BankAtlantic has been a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity, providing Habitat with free office space and sponsoring nearly 62 homes.

Habitat for Humanity of Broward began serving the residents of Broward County in 1983. To date, more than 300 homes have been built in partnership with families in need and over 99% of Habitat homeowners have successfully maintained their homes.
