BankAtlantic Celebrates H2H Homebuyers’ Club Launch in the Town of Davie

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – April 27, 2010 – BankAtlantic, Florida’s Most Convenient Bank announced today the launch of the H2H Homebuyers’ Club in the Town of Davie. H2H works to close the gap between previously hopeless, but now hope-filled individuals and affordable housing. This event will take place on Wednesday, April 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Community Center at 6591 Orange Drive, Davie, Florida.

“H2H is unique – we work with the formerly homeless, to design a plan to assist them in obtaining affordable housing for life. That way, they avert future homelessness and break the cycle at last. There are also people who have felt hopeless when it comes to ever achieving financial independence; this club is tailor made for them,” said Marcia Barry-Smith, Senior Vice President of BankAtlantic’s CRA Lending division and Executive Director of BankAtlantic Foundation, the bank’s philanthropy entity.

Members of the Davie Town Council will be in attendance at the launch. This is the second H2H Club; the first one commenced in 2004 in the City of Fort Lauderdale. Fifty-two members have closed on their homes year-to-date with mortgages totaling nearly $4 million.

H2H is run by BankAtlantic’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) division. The H2H South Broward segment of the organization holds meetings every fourth Wednesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Community Center.

About the H2H Homebuyers’ Club:
The H2H Homebuyers’ Club was launched in 2004. Since then this award-winning, nationally recognized club has grown from 10 pioneering members to an excess of 300+ members. 52 members have closed on their homes year-to-date with mortgages totaling $3,981,090.
This unique program brings formerly homeless, challenged, self-doubting individuals together with a single objective in mind, that is, to reach the goal of owning a home. The H2H staff assists the members by changing old habits, re-learning behavior in handling their credit, budgeting and saving, re-education in financial matters and wealth development. Through this program, the staff foresees the success of many formerly homeless clients in attaining and maintaining the American Dream of Homeownership.
