BankAtlantic Asks Public to Support MADD and Designate a Sober Driver this Holiday Season
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. – November 24, 2009 – BankAtlantic, Florida’s Most Convenient Bank today released a pre-holiday message to the public reminding everyone to designate a sober driver before holiday celebrations begin. On average someone is killed by a drunk driver every 45 minutes. In 2008, an estimated 11,773 people died in drunk driving related crashes.
“Thanksgiving traditionally marks the beginning of the holiday season, and in particular, the beginning of the magic and happiness the holidays bring to the children in our community,” commented Jarett Levan, CEO of BankAtlantic. “Motorist should remember, please approach driving with the highest level of responsibility and carefulness this holiday season.” “Since 1980, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has helped save over 383,000 lives,” said Mr. Randy Rogers, MADD’s Senior Development Officer for Palm Beach and Broward counties. “We will eliminate drunk driving, but need everyone’s help to do so.
